Teachers - Elementary - Grade 3
My name is Tyler Chaisson and I am originally from Rollo Bay, Prince Edward Island. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology, and a Bachelor of Education degree, both from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. In 2007, I drove across Canada (with no GPS!) to Fort McMurray, a city I knew absolutely nothing about. Time sure flies, and I am now in my 6th year teaching with the Fort McMurray Public School District, where I've taught grades 2, 4, and 5. I also took a 2 year leave of absence in 2011 where I lived, traveled and taught in England.
A bit about me: Family is the most important part of my life, and I usually spend my summers in PEI. In my spare time I love to read and play sports. All of my students are aware of my two favourite things: bacon and traveling. My guilty pleasure (don't tell anyone) is reality television.
I am very proud to be a part of the staff at Westview School. Being away from family and friends in PEI can be difficult, but Westview and my colleagues make it easier. They have become my home away from home. When people ask me what my favourite part of Fort McMurray is, I always say that it's the staff and students of Westview School.
